Question 1: How do you have time to write a book?
People always make time for things that are important to them. I work full-time as a teacher, have four children, and many other commitments, but I try to read and write for pleasure every, because I need it! It's my release- the way I decompress. That, and I don't sleep or watch TV too much.
Question 2: Is Layla Justus supposed to be me?
No. I did not create Layla to be a mirror image of me. In fact, I much more identify with Bennett than with Layla.
Joss Whedon, the Author of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, said “I write to give myself strength. I write to be the characters that I am not. I write to explore all the things I'm afraid of. ” That just about sums it up for me- Layla is and she is not me- she is every girl, and no girl.
I appreciate the two people who asked questions of me! I love that there are people out there who are enjoying Layla and Orrin's story. The next part of the adventure is coming soon- promise!
Happy Reading!
