I have been working and writing and waiting and wishing Black Bayou Road would just be finished already!!! I am terribly excited and am more proud of it than anything else I've created (except my children).
So against my better judgement, and the deep groans of my writing group who I can hear through the internet, I am giving everyone a sneak peek of one  chapter.
Stay tuned! When all the world is watching football this THURSDAY afternoon- THANKSGIVING DAY, you can meet Finola and Lady Alaine, read of their twisted legacy of anger, isolation, and  an ache for redemption.
Repost so others can share in our excitement!!!

A Good Excuse To Grub

I haven't been anywhere that doesn't involve a classroom or football field in a few months now. Sooooo, its time for a breather! My family and I are taking the opportunity to go to the Ranch Hand breakfast sponsored by the King Ranch down in Kingsville. They have also asked me to come join in the festivities as a local author.
I haven't done an author gig in a few months, mainly because I haven't been writing like I should. *hangs head in shame* But if there is a reason to celebrate amidst all my head-hanging, it's that I have not just one, but two projects close to completion...and I will never again do anything so taxing!
My co-author, and son, will be at my side schmoosing, selling, and scandalizing the natives.

And this will be the first time he will get to sell something he has created! He is excited, and I think more than anything it's a chance to grow as a writer and as a human being. The hardest question anyone can ask an author is, "What's your book about?" I am looking forward to his own delayed response.

The Ranch Hand Breakfast isnt just a singular event any longer. There are festivuties that last the entire day. I found plenty of information on their website:

              ranchhandfestival.com

We will be at the Howdy Authors! event in front of the King Ranch Saddle Shop this next Saturday from 1:00-3:00. I also plan on sharing an excerpt from Black Bayou Road, which is a first for the public (and my mom!). I've only shared it with one other soul, and he better not be talking.

Dincan's Park and Black Bayou Road will be up for PRE-ORDER on Amazon this week. Its fun to see the stories move from figments in my mind, to actual characters whose lives fill the pages of these journals, and then into a finished product. That is definitely a reason to celebrate.
And like I said before, we are definitely slowing down, which means my writing time will increase with the beginning of the holidays. Come join all of Kingsville in celebrating La Posada, the Ranch Hand breakfast and the Howdy Authors event this Saturday. If nothing else all of this is a great excuse to grub!

It doesn't get any more real than this! Like all my social media indicates I am an English teacher at Reagan High School.  I love my students as much as I do my own four children.  I enjoy YA Lit and Cadbury eggs.  I spend most of my daylight hours in overdrive, like most mothers.  Many ask me how I manage to accomplish so much, and although I have answered in various ways, the one solid truth in my life is Jesus Christ who makes all things possible.
Borrego is the name of my current project. Check out this novel and more on my website or on Amazon.com.
