Some of you who know me know I wear a bracelet on my right arm, and have worn it every day for three years. It says "I AM SECOND," and it is a motto that I have adopted and tried to model my life around (I said tried!!).
"Living Second" means that I put others' needs above my own, whether it is the needs of my children, neighbors, family, or students, I understand that I am an instrument of the Lord- He works miracles through me. We all have sins that we struggle with, and regardless of what my mother says, I am flawed. But by focusing on the needs and successes of others I see my own life in a new way.
I follow @iamsecond on twitter and this 22-day challenge came up. Even though I am a fan, I like this ministry and singed up. For 22 days, "I AM SECOND" will send you a video of someone's personal struggle. The challenge to you then becomes to listen, pray, interpret, and then send the video on to someone else. You never know who could benefit from hearing such a message. If you have received a video like this from me, I hope you have a little clarity now.
I listen to the story on my way to work and take the day to think about someone in my life that needs to hear these words. It's not someone who the story reminds me of, rather I pick at random and hope the Spirit moves them as it did me. If thats' not how it supposed to be- well tough! It's how I do it.
Here is the website. It's not pretentious or preachy, and that's why I like it. The people who make up this ministry are flawed. It can't imagine the courage it would take to expose my own biggest sin to the world (it's vanity, btw. And if you read this much, you probably knew that already). Give it a look!
